This might be one of the most intruiging slice-of-lives I've read. Like some other protagonists I've seen, Kelly is stated to be a lot older than he looks and acts. But whereas Steven Universe just ignored this and Heroes of Thantopolis has it kind of in the background, with Sunshine Boy it's front and center. Kelly's naievity ends up causing a lot of problems for him and it's really interesting to see how he adjusts to life in the public school system after leading such a sheltered upbringing. His parents don't get away with their decisions either, the comic goes into painstaking detail showing why they made the decisions they did and both the benefits and consequences of them. It's good writing.
